Lawyer Overview

A partner in the Litigation Department, Robert P. Parker represents clients in complex litigation, intellectual property, international trade and federal regulatory matters.

In addition to litigating a wide variety of matters in federal district courts, the Court of International Trade, and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings, Mr. Parker has appeared before the International Trade Commission, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Election Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He also represented a senior government official in a Congressional investigation.

Mr. Parker currently represents Nichia Corp., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. and Panasonic in a patent litigation involving laser technology, NEC Corp. in connection with the Intel v. AMD antitrust litigation, and MasterCard in a putative California state class action. He also has represented SES Americom, De Beers Diamond Jewellers, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Hitachi Metals, DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corporation, Amtrak, Foreign Credit Insurance Association, Academy for Educational Development, Carnival Corp., Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools, and other clients in domestic and international disputes involving commercial, regulatory and intellectual property issues.

Working with clients’ management and directors, Mr. Parker has played a leading role in a number of major internal corporate investigations, including Fannie Mae, Xerox Corp., The Boeing Company and Rent-a-Center. He served as counsel to the Rudman Committee which, in 1995, recommended changes to the governance and structure of the National Association of Securities Dealers and the Nasdaq Stock Market.

Mr. Parker is a past president of the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association and has served as chairman of the National Council for Adoption, an advocacy group concerned with the interests of adopted children.

Mr. Parker was counsel to the chairman of the International Trade Commission from 1988-91.
